TODAY'S PICK: THE 14TH REASON

TODAY'S PICK comes from Mr. Steed. It is a very deep and intimate post called THE 14TH REASON. I am not sure what compelled me to click on the post. Maybe it's the title alone that caught my interest.  I felt the strong urge to know what the reason was and exactly well, what was The 14th Reason.

Did that make sense? 🤔 Hmmm.

Being a man that really doesn't follow order much; of course I would start with number 14 instead of searching from the beginning to get a clearer understanding. ( I did skim through 13 REASONS WHY / TAPE 1:DAD to see if my assumptions may have been correct. I suggest giving both of these post a good read.)

He touched on how throughout his blogging, he kept his entries upbeat and complimentary of his partners. He talked about cyber bullies, stalkers and how he avoided writing about bad memories and how he felt about certain issues because it just wasn't what the crowd wanted.

He delved into this "On demand" expectation that many readers have of him as well as the expectation to fulfill specific (and I mean specific ) fantasies.

Although I don't know Mr. Steed personally I have had the pleasure of chatting with him a few times and we share similar circles in social media.

After reading his entry I felt inclined to send him a message.

"I Read your post The 14th reason. Holy Fuck! There is so much to say about that...I see the bullshit falls all over.  I thought it was just my back yard.  Thanks for that post."

"... It was kind of crazy about a decade ago when people would say, "Write about The Runt!" "Write about The Gardener!" without realizing that I'm writing about real people and real incidents and that producing a post on demand isn't feasible when I actually have to meet and interact with someone and have a moment worth posting about," he wrote back.

I shared a very interesting moment that took place at a David Gray concert back in 2019.  During the concert people were shouting, "Play this," "Play that!"

He kindly explained that he plays his newer material first to get people familiar then he brings out his hits.  Still after 15 to 20 minutes people were still shouting play this and that.

He stopped playing, turned to the crowd and said, "Chill! I am not Alexa!" It was a hilarious moment and he was light hearted about it but he meant every word and it didn't deter him from his set.

There comes a time as an artist, writer, blogger, Hell; as a human being, when we have to do what is best for us first. I told myself when I first started my blog that this blog is FIRST for me and then my readers meaning, I have always used writing as a form of therapy. and with that therapy comes the good, the bad and the ugly. The readers can choose to read or not. But writing is first for me. Then my readers.

I hope for Mr. Steed that He either will or has decided to write first for himself.
