Folsom Street Fair. I cannot recall the year.
It was about an hour after the Folsom Street Fair event. I had just talked with my sister who called. We planned to meet up so that I could drop her the money I owed her. She asked where I was so I gave her the cross street where I was since she was already out and about.
She met me and got in the car and we talked for awhile. As we were in the car, two guys were walking on the sidewalk. As they passed by they noticed us in the car. We all made quick eye contact. No big deal. That’s what usually happens when you see someone in your peripheral vision.
As they passed us by they looked back and started kissing each other. They continued walking cuddling up closer as one guy started pulling the other’s pants down and running his fingers down the other’s butt crack. He grabbed his cheek and they both looked back at us as if they were making some big statement. She turned to me. I turned to her and we both laughed. We had the same thought.
She said. “Now look at that bullshit! You know they think we are a couple and think they are doing something big by trying to shock us. They don’t even realize I see that shit everyday.”
“For real though!” I said rolling my eyes.
My sister laughed, “And then gonna look back at us like ‘what you gonna do about it?’”
“Okay!” I laughed
“Mark talk to your people!”
“Shit! They ain’t none of my people.”
“No for real! You got to talk to your folks and let them know it’s okay! You don’t have to be all extra babe! Do it for our country. Talk to your people Mark.”
“Bitch shut up!” I laughed.
After heading home I thought about what took place.
I’ve seen this many times before:
This gay chip on the shoulders of some gay men and women for that matter.
I totally get that many have come to this type of attitude through years of experiencing discrimination, being ostracized for their lifestyles and ridiculed and or bullied for their preferences. But attempting to provoke for shock value or to dare another to respond so you could act out more Is really a waste of everybody’s time. Especially if the people you’re trying to provoke could care less about you finger banging your partner while walking down the street.
That's so laughable, because the real joke was on them
ReplyDeleteI found it quite comical but also kind of sad in a way . But hey! It is what it is.
